My name is Belinda and I love all things art and craft! I have always been involved in some form of art or craft class or activity. I have had people tell me that I can’t do the things that I dream of because I’m too old I don’t have enough experience, it costs to much or to be told simply I’m not talented enough. So like everyone else in the world I worked as hard as I could to get the simple things in life, was I ever really content or happy with my life? Like many others I’m going to say no, don’t get me wrong I love my family and friends and I am forever grateful to god for everything and every opportunity I have been given and blessed with.
However I was just making through every day not thinking of or dreaming of anything exciting for my future or my mental and physically health. My husband and I started our own business it was exciting and new and we loved working together, it felt good to finally be planning and to really enjoy interacting and helping in the community. As the weeks past I struggled with some physical health issues that made me extremely down and left me not being able to work out in the field, I had damaged my back and just sitting in the car for short periods was enough to leave me in agony for days at a time.
So being home bound and in pain all the time left me so down and feeling so useless. I had to find something I would enjoy and would still give me the freedom to be physically inactive or active depending on my pain. I poured my heart into learning loads of different art techniques I already had the basics from my love of color and art. I have played with acrylics, oils, colored pencils, Copic Markers, watercolor and many crafts as well. I’v been constantly learning through my adult life and I love teaching and sharing what I have learnt over the years with others.
I was getting huge encouragement to share my skills and products I used with others, so I started sharing my knowledge through YouTube and in groups doing coloring tutorials and product reviews. I made my first advertisement using videos of me using products and I started to gain some funds from YouTube and affiliate links to help go towards more products and projects to share. I started to plan and get excited about my future and made new goals to work towards, like having 1000 subscribers and doing challenges and entering competitions. Now my biggest goal is to help people see their potential, through expressions of art. Whether it is through coloring, painting, drawing, scrapping, card making, dance, music, sculpting and the many other awesome artistic avenues.
We all have the right to express ourselves in this amazing and unique way, bringing joy not only to ourselves but to others in the process. If I had allowed myself to listen to the negative I would never have stepped out of my comfort zone to be heading in the direction I am now. I’m a big believer in not letting the “norm” tell you what you should or shouldn’t be doing, if you want to learn something its NEVER to late.
Get out there and do it, not just because I say to but for you because life is to short to let it be wasted doing what you hate and just getting through…
